Maintaining your personal sense of beauty often begins with facial rejuvenation. The expressions you make most often like smiling, frowning, and laughing, can cause permanent unsightly vertical frown lines around the mouth, wrinkles on the forehead, and crows’ feet around the eyes. One of the most effective tools for treating such wrinkles is BOTOX, and MD’s nonsurgical Bella Rosa team is considered one of the best sources.
So what is BOTOX?
BOTOX is an injectible serum made from a natural, purified protein from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. This protein acts like a wall that stops the chemical signals from your nerve endings that tell your muscles to contract. When injected, it freezes the muscles around the problem area, thereby preventing them from contracting and forming wrinkles in the skin above them. The injections are most effective for forehead wrinkles, crows’ feet, and frown lines (located in between the eyes), though certain other areas of the face and neck can be treated as well.
Will my face really “stay that way”?
When BOTOX is administered, the natural mobility of your facial muscles is maintained. Despite your mother’s dire warnings, BOTOX will not immobilize your ability to make all facial expressions—only your face’s ability to make wrinkles. Most patients find the results to be natural and pleasing, without any fear of a “frozen” appearance. Results from BOTOX injections typically last about 3-4 months, although some patients find that they do not have to have repeat injections for 4-6 months.
How does the procedure work?
To begin, your skilled Bella Rosa physician provider will prepare your BOTOX injection. The concentrated white powder that is BOTOX will be mixed with saline immediately before injecting to ensure the greatest effect. The number of of units used and injections given is determined by the strength of your muscles and the amount of resting wrinkles that you present with. potency of the BOTOX/saline solution. The less saline, the stronger the BOTOX will be, and the fewer injections will be needed.
Once the BOTOX solution is prepared, the physician provider will begin preparing the sites for the injections by applying a topical anesthetic cleaning the skin. Ice packs are can be used to cool the skin and help deaden pain, although most clients find this unneccessary. Using a very precise microneedle, the physician provider will inject BOTOX into several predetermined areas. This is not considered a painful procedure, with.Mmany patients comparinge the sensation to a bug bite.
As the BOTOX takes effect, the affected muscles will relax, thereby causing the skin overlaying the muscles to relax in turn. The result is almost immediate with minimal pain or discomfort. The final result takes about 3-7 days to take full effect. It is best to give the BOTOX a full 7 days before judging the final result. Many patients compare the sensation to a bug bite.
What happens after the BOTOX treatment?
Bruising around the injection sites is usually minimal and temporary, easily covered by makeup. Crow’s feet and forhead injections typically bruise more than other treatment areas. The effects of the injections can last anywhere from three to five four months with no side effects. It is recommended that you renew the injections regularly to maintain the wrinkle-reducing effects of BOTOX. Fortunately, the procedure is simple and can often be done on your lunch break.
