As in breast augmentation, breast lift surgery can improve the body contour, balance breast size irregularities and enhance your own body image. Also called Mastopexy, a breast lift reshapes and firms the breast by removing excess skin. Some women choose this surgery to correct the appearance of loose breasts caused by excessive weight loss or after having children.

Note: A breast implant with your breast lift can not only bring the nipples back up, but provide additional fullness and improved shape, particularly in the upper breast even when relatively small implants are used.

The Breast Lift Procedure

A surgeon elevates the entire breast, including relocating the nipple and areolas (the surrounding pigmented skin), removes excess skin from the lower breast, and then reshapes the remaining skin. Some women choose to have implants in conjunction with breast lift to increase breast volume. The procedure generally takes two hours to complete.

After Breast Lift Surgery

Physicians suggest reducing upper body activity for 7 to 10 days. Scars are permanent but will fade considerably over time. Results generally last 10 to 15 years.

As with any medical procedure, there are certain risks associated with a breast lift, which should be discussed with Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu.
