In
todays health-conscious world, individuals want
to look and feel youthful and vital. Every year thousands
of men and women achieve successful results with collagen.
Collagen is a protein substance which cosmetic surgeons
have been using effectively and safely in hundreds
of thousands of patients over the years to treat facial
wrinkles and scars and to augment lips.
Dr.
Schusterman offers both human and bovine based collagen
injections and treatment.

Human-Based
Collagen Treatment
Dr.
Schusterman uses CosmoDermTM
and CosmoPlastTM collagen
products, the only FDA-approved, commercially available
products that contain natural human collagen similar
to that found in skin. Unlike bovine-based collagen
products, CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast do not require a
pre-treatment skin test, making them the first same-day,
single-visit collagen product approved in the United
States.
Results
are safe and immediate whether correcting facial wrinkles,
frown lines, nasolabial folds or vermilion borders.
CosmoDerm
is used in the treatment of superficial lines, whereas
CosmoPlast is primarily used in the treatment of more
pronounced wrinkles. Both contain lidocaine that reduces
the pain of the injections.
Dr.
Schusterman will work with you to develop a treatment
program to meet your individual needs. With CosmoDerm
and CosmoPlast, you can get started today.

Bovine-Based
Collagen Treatment
Most
physicians will test the skin prior to bovine-based
collagen treatment to check for allergic reaction. There
is a four-week wait for test results to become available.
Ninety-eight percent have no allergic reaction and proceed
with one to four collagen treatments over the course
of a year. Results are immediate.
After
Bovine-Based Collagen Treatment
Slight
redness or puffiness can occur after treatment and generally
subsides by the next day. The effects of collagen last
from three to six months; additional treatments then
are needed to restore the skin to its desired state.
