While
a facelift cant stop the aging process, it can
set back the clock dramatically. Perhaps the most well-known
cosmetic surgery procedure, facelifts may be performed
on men or women as soon as there are signs of natural
aging.

The
Facelift Procedure
Facelifts require loosening of the skin. Inconspicuous incisions
in skin folds or hair bearing areas allow the adjacent
skin to be separated from its underlying muscle. The
skin and underlying muscles are tightened and then the
excess skin is removed. The area is sutured (“fixed”)
snugly in place, loose bandages are applied and the
patient often returns home the day of the surgery. Typically,
these procedures are performed using either local or
general anesthesia, in the surgeon’s office, an
outpatient facility or at a hospital.
After
Facelift Surgery
Pain
is minimal and relieved with oral medications for a
day or two after the facelift procedure. Bruising and
swelling subsides in seven to 14 days. The patient then
will then be able to return to work and social situations
but may be advised to avoid the sun for several weeks.
Scars will fade considerably over time and are hidden
by the hairline. Results generally last 10 to 15 years.

Endoscopic
Mid Facelift
Featuring
the Endotine Midface™
Dr.
Schusterman in now making the Endotine Midface™
available to his patients for endoscopic mid facelifts.
The Endotine is a bioabsorbable implant that simplifies
the procedure of tightening the skin and eliminates
the need for a cumbersome fixation suture. The Midface
is fast to deploy (reducing operating time) and allows
for simple and secure adjustment of tension. This gives
Dr. Schusterman greater control of cheek elevation and
projection for optimized clinical and aesthetic results.

A mini facelift looks natural and
provides results comparable to a full facelift, but
is far more cost effective. The procedure involves
relatively little undermining and consequently the
patient enjoys a shorter recovery. The mini facelift
is particularly useful for improving the mid face and
mylar (cheek) area where other facelift techniques
fall short.
