Houston Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation / Minimally Invasive Breast Augmentation

Introducing Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation

Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation is a revolutionary new procedure being offered to our
patients. Through the use of an endoscope and a small incision made deep in the armpit, women can
now have breast implants in either submuscular placement or subglandular placement with no scarring on the breast itself.

The Procedure

With this new procedure, a single 1 inch incision is made deep in the armpit where it does not affect the nerves or lymph nodes. The implant can be placed above or below the chest muscle without damaging the muscle or disrupting other tissues unnecessarily. Precise placement is achieved through the use of the camera on the end of the endoscope, so the end result is more natural. All in all, this procedure is more effective than any other breast augmentation procedure available today. Limitations to the procedure include size of implant and a low positioned nipple (ptosis).

Scarring & Recovery Time

Because the incision is so small and located in an area of the body that is seldom seen, scarring is
minimal and hardly visible. Scars tend to fade to near-invisibility with time, even blending in with the
natural creases in the armpit area. Recovery time is typically 5- 7days, and the pain can be minimal
and well-managed by medication. The risk of infection is no greater or lesser than any other incision
provided the armpit is washed once a day and an antibacterial cream applied. Patients who have this
procedure are generally active in two days and very satisfied with the results, suffering no long-term
medical effects.

Adjustments

If an adjustment is needed at a later date, the surgery can often be performed using the same incision,
which means scarring stays minimal. Only in very rare or severe cases of leakage or capsular contracture would a new incision need to be made in the breast itself.

As with any medical procedure, there are certain risks associated with Transaxillary Endoscopic Breast Augmentation, which should be discussed with Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu.
