Perlane®
For Shaping Facial Contours, Such as Cheeks and Chin
and for Lip Augmentation
Lasts up to Eight Months and Longer
By
plumping up the skin when injected, Perlane® flattens deep folds in
the cheeks and chin where it is used to improve facial
contours. It can also be used to smooth deep wrinkles
and scars, and augment lips. As part of a custom
face rejuvenation, Perlane can be combined with BOTOX® or
Restylane®, depending on the degree of work needed, the number
of target sites and site locations. .
Perlane
is produced by the same manufacturer as Restylane
and uses the same chemical constituent, hyaluronic
acid, commonly found in all human tissue, where it
provides volume and fullness to skin. The hyaluronic
acid used in Perlane is manufactured synthetically
from non-animal sources and then stabilized as a
crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ (Non-Animal Stabilized
Hyaluronic Acid). When injected, this form of hyaluronic
acid binds with water in your skin, adding volume
to plump the skin. The gel particles of Perlane are
larger than Restylane and are injected deeper. Consequently,
there is a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid
in Perlane than Restylane.
The
Advantages of Perlane
Containing
more hyaluronic acid than Restylane, Perlane is ideal
for more challenging wrinkles and deeper folds and
for facial modeling and contouring.
Non-animal Product: there is no risk
of animal disease transmission and there is no need
to have an allergy test.
Biodegradable: Over time, Perlane
breaks down to form water and carbon dioxide, and disappears
completely from the body without leaving a trace.

Treatment Procedure
An
in-office procedure, Perlane® injections can
take 30 to 45 minutes. It is injected directly into
the skin at a deeper level than Restylane® using
an ultrafine needle for minimum discomfort. In addition,
a topical numbing cream or locally-injected anesthetic
cream may be used.
| There
are two effective Perlane injection techniques: |
| |
LINEAR
THREADING
The full length of the needle
in inserted lengthwise under
the skin. |
|
SERIAL
PUNCTURE
A series of puncture
injections creates a
smooth, continuous line. |
|
After
the Perlane Treatment Procedure
As
with any injection, you may experience a slight redness,
swelling, tenderness, and itching in the treated
area. These symptoms clear up in a few days.
Results
can last up to 8 months depending on the treatments
performed. The procedure can be repeated as frequently
as required.
