HOUSTON – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and one world-renowned Houston-area plastic surgeon has emerged as a leader in breast reconstruction for women overcoming breast cancer.

Barbara Eaker, a breast cancer survivor, underwent a double mastectomy as part of a procedure that Dr. Mark Schusterman refers to as a bi-lateral breast reconstruction.

HOUSTON – People have opted for liposuction as a cosmetic procedure for years, but a new form of liposuction is relatively painless and has a rather quick recovery time.

Museum District Aesthetic Plastic Surgery was the first facility in Houston to offer Smart Lipo, which breaks up fat and tightens skin with less pain and bleeding.

Smart Lipo uses a thin tube and requires only a small incision. Three different laser wavelengths are used to smooth out skin or melt fat. The procedure can be applied to the face, arms and body.
