Candidates for breast lift augmentation
If you have sagging breasts and loss of fullness in the top portion of your breasts you are likely a candidate for the procedure. The breasts are like the rest of the body in that they sag with age. The sagging can be exacerbated by childbirth, genetics, stretch marks on the breast skin, weight gain and weight loss. It is normal for the breasts to sag with age. Many women seeking a breast lift in our Baltimore office wish to regain the full, pert, projecting breast that they had in their teens.
Consultation for a breast lift augmentation
During the consultation, Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu will examine your breasts. They will take "before" photographs during this visit. He will also analyze the size and shape of your breasts, their skin quality and the placement of your nipples and areolas (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipples). Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu will make suggestions based on these features. If there is anything else that you want changed, speak up. A frank, open discussion will help your surgeon better understand and satisfy your expectations. Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu will also take a full medical history during this visit. This information will help determine if you are a candidate for breast augmentation. Tell your surgeon about any pre-existing medical conditions, drug allergies and previous surgeries. He also needs to know about any/all medications that you take including prescription medications, over-the-counter medications and dietary supplements.
Recovery from breast lift augmentation
Following surgery, breast enhancement patients should expect some post-operation effects and should follow specific instructions given to them by Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu. Patients may experience some degree of bruising, swelling and tenderness. Bed rest the day of surgery is recommended. Limit activity for the next two days following surgery. Avoid strenuous activities for about one to two weeks. Patients can typically return to work within the first week. Dr. Schusterman or Dr. Hsu may recommend a sports bra be worn for a couple of weeks following surgery.
