Are You Considering a Breast Lift in Houston, TX?
A breast lift surgery can improve the body contour and balance breast size irregularities. Also known as mastopexy, a breast lift reshapes and firms the breast by removing excess skin. According to The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of breast lifts performed has grown by 70% since 2000, a growth rate that’s even faster than the increasing popularity of breast augmentation! Contact Texas Center for Breast and Body to schedule a consultation for a breast lift in Houston, TX.
Why Choose a Breast Lift?
Women in good general health can contact our office about a breast lift procedure. If aging or lost skin elasticity is causing loose skin and sagging, a breast lift can restore the shape you had for a more youthful and round appearance. According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, a simple way to evaluate if a breast lift would be effective for you is to consider the position of your nipples when not wearing a bra. If your nipples point downward, a breast lift surgery can address the shape and position of your breasts for an improved final result.
Some women also choose this surgery to enhance the appearance of loose breasts caused by significant weight loss or after having children. However, we only recommend a breast lift surgery after you feel your family is complete and don’t plan on having any more children, as breastfeeding could reverse the effects of the breast lift.

The Breast Lift Procedure
The first step in your breast lift is a private consultation in our office. We’ll measure your chest and torso to recommend a proportionate bust size and shape. Dr. Schusterman will also take into account your skin’s thickness and elasticity, age, and medical history. Occasionally, we may also recommend an implant based on your goals to give you the best possible results. This consultation is the ideal time to ask questions about planning, side effects, scarring, costs, recovery, and more.
During surgery, Dr. Schusterman elevates the entire breast, including relocating the nipple and areolas (the surrounding pigmented skin), removes excess skin from the lower breast, and then reshapes the remaining skin. Some women choose to have implants in conjunction with a breast lift to increase breast volume. The procedure generally takes two hours to complete under general anesthesia at the state-of-the-art Hermann Drive Surgical Hospital near our office.
Breast Lift Recovery Guidelines
We usually suggest limiting most upper body activity for seven to ten days after surgery. During the first few days, pain and swelling are normal, and you should follow all of our home-care instructions and keep your bandages on. During a post-op follow-up visit, we’ll check the healing process and can provide a soft support bra to wear until the healing is complete and you can comfortably wear your normal clothes again. Scars are permanent but will become less noticeable over time. Our surgery team will always keep the incisions as small and inconspicuous as possible. The final results generally last 10 to 15 years, when the continued effects of aging and gravity cause further loss of skin elasticity and more sagging.
