When it comes to your facelift, Dr. Schusterman will base their recommendations on your facial structure, age and skin and, most importantly, your own personal goals.

One reason that Dr. Schusterman is a world renowned plastic surgeon is that he is highly knowledgeable about the latest facelift procedures of all kinds. He has examined, evaluated and most likely, employed certain aspects of these procedures as part of a personalized facelift solution for his patients – using only what is best for each. As a result, patients come away pleased with a refreshed, relaxed, younger and completely natural look.

If you want to remove the natural folds, wrinkles and loose skin that have appeared from aging and have given up on lotions and creams, a facelift may be right for you. While it won’t stop the aging process completely, the personalized facelift can help to turn back the clock by addressing:

  • Midface sagging
  • Deep creases below the lower eyelids
  • Deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
  • Displaced or fallen fat
  • Loss of muscle tone in the lower face that has created jowls
  • Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw giving the appearance of a double chin

Dr. Schusterman will create a personalized facelift focusing on the specific areas you feel need enhancement. To determine the appropriate combination of facelift technologies, Dr. Schusterman will assess the thickness, texture and elasticity of your skin, as well as the severity of wrinkles and folds. Dr. Schusterman also take into consideration your bone structure and utilizes your natural features to enhance the new you.

Typically, facelifts require the removal of excess skin. Inconspicuous incisions in skin folds or hair-bearing areas allow the adjacent skin to be separated from its underlying muscle. The skin and underlying muscles are tightened, and then the excess skin is removed. The area is sutured (“fixed”) snugly in place, loose bandages are applied, and the patient often returns home the day of the surgery. Typically, these procedures are performed using either local or general anesthesia, in the surgeon’s office, an outpatient facility or at a hospital.

Pain is minimal and relieved with oral medications for a day or two after the facelift procedure. Bruising and swelling subside in 7 to 14 days. The patient will then be able to return to work and social situations but may be advised to avoid the sun for several weeks. Scars will fade considerably over time and are hidden by the hairline. Results generally last 10 to 15 years.
